Your final score would be 30 + 20 + 10, or 60 points. This can lead to some dependency issues at the end of the game, which means the final frame has its own set of rules that I won’t go into here.įor example, if you bowled three strikes and missed every subsequent shot (i.e., they were gutter balls), your third frame would be worth 10 points, your second frame would be worth 20 and your first frame 30.
THREE STRIKES IN BOWLING PLUS
Whenever you bowl a strike, that frame is scored as 10 plus the scores of your next two rolls. There are special rules for spares (when you’ve knocked down all 10 pins with the second ball of a frame) and strikes (when you knock down all 10 pins with your first ball). Your score is then the sum of the scores across all 10 frames. Each pin knocked down is worth 1 point, and the pins are reset after each frame. There are 10 frames, and in each frame you get two chances to knock down as many of the 10 pins as you can.

Handicap – Handicaps are most commonly applied in recreational leagues.The 7-10 Split – This is one of the toughest shots in bowling and occurs when only the leftmost and rightmost pins remain (i.e.Often, this is caused by hitting the head pin straight on instead of in the pocket. Split – When the remaining pins are left with a gap between them.This is the sweet spot you generally want to aim for to minimize your chance of a split. Pocket – The area just to the right of the head pin (for right-handed players) or the left of the head pin (for left-handed players).
Badger – Once you’ve made a turkey, next up is a badger.Turkey – Three strikes in a row is a turkey.Double – If you get two strikes in a row, you’ve just made yourself a double.Spare – Picking up a spare is knocking down all remaining pins on a bowler’s second throw.Strike – Knocking down all the pins on the first throw.Or at the very least, you need to be able to understand basic bowling terms so that you can converse with your fellow bowlers and friends!
